Sealer Is Not A Coating

What Goes Wrong
The Problems We Fix
Freeze-thaw cracking
Water gets into the pores, freezes, expands, and works hairline cracks into real ones every winter. A sealed surface gives water nowhere to get in.
Oil and fluid stains
Bare concrete drinks whatever drips off a vehicle. A polyaspartic surface does not, so it wipes clean instead of staining.
Moss on the shady half
North-facing and tree-shaded driveways stay wet from October to April and grow a slick green film. A non-porous coating gives it nothing to root into.
Edge spalling
The surface pops off in patches at the edges and joints as the slab ages. Spalls are cut back to sound concrete and rebuilt before coating.
Salt and de-icer
Comes home on the underside of the vehicle and pits unsealed concrete over a few seasons.
Tracked-in grit
On the coast it is sand; in the valley it is gravel from the shoulder. Either one grinds an uncoated surface down to dust.

How It Goes
From First Call To Finished Floor
01. Contact
Call, text, or send a photo through the quote form. We answer with a real number, not a window.
02. Consultation
We go over the space, what it is used for, and which finish fits. Physical chip samples come with us.
03. On-Site Check
We measure, test the slab for moisture and soundness, and find every crack that needs cutting out.
04. Installation
Grind, repair, basecoat, flake, polyaspartic topcoat. Most residential installs take one day on site.
Colors & Finishes
Blends That Suit It

Cascade Ash
Mid-grey base with a dense white, grey and black blend. Hides dust and tire marks better than anything else we lay.

Willamette Slate
Charcoal base with black, gunmetal and silver chip. The default for garages and shops, and the easiest color to keep looking clean.

Siuslaw Sand
Warm sand base with cream, tan and soft brown. The one most people choose for front walks and entries.

Driveway Coating Questions
Can you coat a driveway that is already cracked?
Yes, and that is most of them. Cracks are cut out, filled and ground flat, and spalls are rebuilt, before any coating goes down. The coating is not the repair; it is what protects the repair.
Is a coated driveway slippery in the rain?
No. Exterior driveways get a textured topcoat with additional grip. Tell us if you have a steep section and we will texture it heavier.
How long is the driveway out of use?
Install is usually one day on site. Foot traffic within 24 hours, vehicles after 48 to 72. Plan on parking on the street for the weekend.
Will it fade in the sun?
No. The polyaspartic topcoat is UV stable. Epoxy and most sealers yellow and chalk under direct sun; this does not.
Can you match the driveway to the garage floor?
Yes. Many customers do both in one visit with the same blend inside and out, or a lighter blend on the driveway to hide dust. We bring samples.
Do you do the walk from the driveway to the door too?
Yes, and it is worth doing at the same time. See the patio and walkway page for the textured exterior finishes.
